Transformation is a constant in Life Science. New markets, product launches, regulatory requirements, digitalization and organizational change all create new demands for people and expertise, but even the strongest strategy can struggle without the right competence at the right time.
Start with the need, not the title
A common recruitment mistake is starting with a job title or an old job description. Instead, start with the business challenge:
What value should this person add?
The expertise needed for a Nordic market entry may be very different from what is required during an inspection, regulatory transformation or in a pharmacovigilance function. Defining the challenge first makes it easier to identify the right profile.
Timing matters
Specialist competence within areas such as Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance cannot always be secured at short notice.
Look ahead and ask: What expertise do we need today, in six months and in the next phase of our transformation? Recruitment should support the transformation roadmap, not react to it.
Permanent employee or consultant?
Not every capability needs to be permanent. Market entries, product launches, audits, remediation projects and transformation programs can create temporary or highly specialized needs.
The key is deciding which expertise should remain within the organisation long term and where flexible specialist support can create greater value.
Five recruitment pitfalls to avoid
Build the team for what’s next
Successful transformation is not simply about finding people. It is about understanding what capabilities the business needs, when they are needed and how they should be brought into the organisation.
Transformation requires more than the right strategy. It requires the right people, at the right time.
