AI Adoption in Life Sciences: How to Get Started with a Workshop

PharmaRelations recently facilitated an interactive AI workshop for the Regulatory Affairs team of an international life sciences company. The objective was clear: to move AI from general curiosity to practical, business-relevant application.

The session explored how tools such as Microsoft Copilot can support productivity, strengthen regulatory processes, and improve collaboration without compromising compliance and quality. Rather than treating AI as a technology topic, the workshop framed it as an operational capability: where can AI remove friction, accelerate work, and help teams make better use of their knowledge?

Through expert input, group discussions, and hands-on exercises, participants worked directly with their own workflows. This helped identify concrete opportunities to reduce administrative burden, improve knowledge management, and support better decision-making across Regulatory Affairs activities.

A central theme was the shift from individual productivity gains to team-level productivity and ultimately measurable business value. That transition requires shared priorities, clear governance, and a practical understanding of where AI can be embedded into daily work.

The outcome was a prioritized set of AI use cases rooted in the team’s own processes, supported by concrete recommendations for next steps. The team left with a clearer view of how AI can become a practical value driver in Regulatory Affairs and how targeted workshops can turn digital opportunities into action.
