Matching candidates with employers

Whether filling a temporary or permanent position, recruitment assignments are about matching candidates to a specification of requirements. It’s of the utmost importance that both the client and the candidate are happy with the outcome. To make a good match we must understand the specific demands of the position in question and, just as important, we must be aware of the expectations the candidate has with regard to their next job.

PharmaRelations is well versed in the demands of different positions within the Life Science sector and we often present our views to clients and candidates. The technique we use when interviewing candidates is designed to elicit details of education, experience and competency, allowing us to evaluate suitability for the position in question. It also includes a number of obligatory questions which are always put, irrespective of the position being recruited, questions regarding e.g. a candidate’s health, family situation etc.

Before every recruitment or staffing assignment we write a requirement specification which clearly defines the competencies required for the position. Following this, a written assignment plan is produced together with the client. This document specifies the results to be reached and the methods to be used. It is important to agree on how the client is to be presented to candidates. Advertisements and assignment plans are always approved by the client. We take great care with the formulation of contracts; there must be no ambiguity as to what the client is paying for.

The expectations of the client and the candidate must be compatible. It’s just as unacceptable to recruit a person who is overqualified as one who lacks the necessary qualifications.

We always give individual feedback to candidates who have been interviewed, irrespective of whether they progress to the next stage of the recruitment process or not. It is important that feedback is given speedily, is accurate and supports the candidate in his/her continued personal and professional development.
